Severe Weather Policy

Spring and Fall in Texas may bring the possibility of severe weather to our area. We pray that may Allah (SWT) protect all of us from any calamities Ameen. To better be prepared for such an occasion, I would like to pass along some procedures that will help us work together to keep our students safe.

• All dismissals will be suspended when weather conditions deteriorate to a dangerous level. This means that when a severe weather WARNING is issued for our location and dangerous conditions are present, then administration will order a lockdown. All occupants of the building will move immediately to a designated protected area.
• When the school is in Lockdown, no person may enter or exit the building until conditions are deemed safe by administration. If you are inside the building when a lockdown occurs, you may or may not be in the same protected area as students.
• During lockdown, students will not be summoned for dismissal or transferred from their designated protected area to another area of the building.
• Once danger has passed, lockdown procedures will be lifted and students will return to their classrooms. Dismissals will resume according to the normal procedures.
• Administration or designee will communicate via email that a lockdown is in effect in school. When the lockdown has been lifted, a second message will be sent. Communications will be issued in the timeliest manner possible.
• If you choose to check your student out during inclement weather, please give yourself plenty of time to do so. Continually monitor weather conditions for your safety and the safety of your student.
• Students will only be released to persons identified in our portal system as an authorized designee and they must have picture identification. Please keep your information accurate and up to date.  Discuss these matters with your child.

• Should an emergency situation arise within our area while school is in session, it is important that you know that Radiant STEM Academy has trained its staff.
• During such an event, your child will be cared for. Your cooperation is essential in an emergency. Know that we will do everything possible to keep your child safe. An important part of our plan is to keep traffic lanes clear of vehicles in the event emergency responders are needed at school. It is also important for us to keep our phone lines clear. We will communicate with you through email

With your cooperation we can have a much safer and organized response to an emergency situation.
